Info on Wonder Land
Wonderland Records
started in Lower Hutt's Margaret Street in the early 1970's and
changed hands to the present Proprietors in 1994. The store
moved into High Street 5 years ago and re-located to the
Homedale Village in October 2004. The new location, while
offering slightly less floor space than High Street, offers a
much needed expanded storage and back office area, both
important to the business's growth.
Dealers in new and used records, compact discs, cassette tapes,
music videos and dvd's, the store also has a good selection of
T-Shirts, posters, badges, postcards and books about pop stars
from the 60's to today. While records like Wonderland are
rapidly becoming few and far apart due to the compact disc and
dvd boom, the Internet has proved Wonderland's life blood. Apart
from their own 'Home" Web Site at
(http://wonderland_recs.tripod.com), they have
On-Line Stores at Gemm, Netsounds and Musicstack. These are the
3 largest Internet "shopping malls" for music and sees
Wonderland shipping to many parts of the World.
New Zealand's own "Trade Me" allows Wonderland to reach
customers from every corner of New Zealand, making specialist
music (like heavy metal) accessible to those living in the
far-flung Rural outposts of this Nation.
Wonderland Records has one of the widest ranges of music
available. Starting with the pop/rock, rap/hip-hop and reggae
genre, they have heavy metal, alternative, punk/prog. rock, easy
listening, soundtracks, childrens records, religious, classical,
folk, blues, jazz, compilations and NZ artists. They can provide
12" albums, 12" vinyl picture covered Singles, 7" extended plays
and 45rpm pop/rock singles, coloured vinyls, picture discs,
shaped picture discs, cassette tapes, old 78rpms too and of
course the box sets both classical and specialist popular
artists like Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, T-Rex and many
more.
